When I first started my wellness journey I dreaded going to the gym. I had no idea what I was doing, I was intimidated by the beautiful people there, and I felt awful in my skin! It took quite a bit of confidence-building that came from my commitment to building a healthier me before I felt comfortable in what I call the “big girl area.”

This lack of self-confidence was a huge problem for me in the beginning. I would compare myself to others not only in the gym but even outside the gym and truthfully it wasn’t healthy. When I let go of those unhealthy feelings and just tried to focus on my personal wellness goals, I started seeing major results. Truth is, I was getting in my way. But isn’t this something we all are guilty of?

Resisting the urge to compare your weight loss and fitness accomplishments to those of others is a big challenge for many of us on a wellness journey. Something that I had to learn early on was that goals take time and commitment. When the idea that our goals are not happening fast enough start to creep into our minds, we start thinking that what we are doing isn’t working and that can lead to poor health decisions.

We stop what’s working and go back to our old, bad habits or we try something new that isn’t necessarily healthy. It can seem like your goals are taking forever. It’s a feeling I’ve experienced many times but instead of choosing the poor health decisions, I chose to get back on my plan and keep going.

I’m now four years into my journey and in hindsight, it doesn’t seem like it took very long at all. Look in the mirror and promise yourself that you will treat yourself the best that you can today. Then stick with your health and fitness plan as proof. Celebrate your milestones and keep an eye on your results. There will always be setbacks no matter what goals you are working to achieve.

I am here to guide you through this journey and I am honored to be by your side. NOW……let’s do this!
